Cisano San Vito

The Lake Garda (Italian: Lago di Garda) is the largest lake in Italy. It is a popular holiday location. Not only for its beautiful nature and historical villages, but also the water sports and the delicious Bardolino wines. The northern part of the lake is narrower and surrounded by mountains. Good food and drinks is an important part in the life of the Italians. Pastas, pizzas, fresh salads and delicious fish (trout) and meat dishes. Off course with a good glass of wine and an espresso with grappa or limoncello. And do not forget the delicious Italian ice cream!

The town of Bardolino is located on the southeast and widest part of the lake and is surrounding by rolling hills producing its famous wines and olive oil. Bardolino has a large and mainly pedestrianised centre, enhancing the beauty of this old town with its alleys, numerous stores and typical restaurants. The long promenades along the lakeshore and its well photographed colourful port all indicate one of the reasons why Bardolino is the most known and touristic destination on Lake Garda. Don’t forget to stop by the famous Piazza Matteotti. This elongated and trendy town square runs from the port to the stately church of Santi Nicole e Severo. The front of this church is supported with impressive columns displaying that typical Italian structure feel. Do note to visit any church is free of charge.

For decades during the last week of September, Bardolino holds its famous wine and olive oil celebrations. Battling the cellars to the trophies and the task to sample as many delectable wines and oils as possible, This five day festival offers market stalls, live music and an abundance of Italian traditions, certainly not to be missed!
